Audio Visual & Curtain Install

This is an example of how audio visual installations sometimes require us to think outside the box and also make the best of the space we have.

REMOTE COUNCIL MEETING SPACE TRANSFORMED

This was an unusual brief requiring some creative planning. We needed to provide performance-style audio & projection in a Council Meeting Room / Function Space. The room was certainly not designed with this performance-style entertainment in mind.

On every wall, there were doorways, windows, concertina partitions linking other areas, and no ideal “focal” point in the room. The layout was unusual, with the back half of the room being “L-shaped”. This divided the space laterally by way of a full-width concertina wall.

The best position for a performance-based focal point was undoubtedly along a specific wall. Subsequently this wall housed four sets of access doors, one of which was a fire door that couldn’t be obstructed. So, not exactly an aesthetically pleasing or practical performance backdrop, but the only location that would really work.

Therefore, PLS put on our thinking caps and designed a fully custom “flown” solution. Consequently this provided a great focal point for performance-style events without obstructing doorways or access points. This solution comprised:

N

A 6m section of F33 Global Tri-Truss statically rigged from the overhead void and also around 1.5m forward of the door-clad wall;

N

A custom-designed motorised “retractable” theatrical grade velvet curtain (floor length) and static valance to match rigged from the truss, creating apleasing backdrop and folding up neatly into the void when not in use;

N

A Da-Lite Contour Electrol 147” Projection Screen suspended between the curtain and the valance, therefore providing a visually pleasing display for AVpresentations;

N

Both the Screen and Curtain raise & lower effortlessly at a push of a button;

N

An Epson EB-2265U Projector with HDBaseT input subsequently delivering 5500 Lumens of image via a Kramer HDMI & VGA over HDBaseT WP20 Input Panel (rack-mounted);

N

JBL AC195 Compact 2-way Loudspeakers suspended left and right from the void, rigged laterally using optional “U-Brackets” with speakers rotated, therefore producing a great full-bodied sound;

N

Mobile Encore Slant-Rack with Wing Bench/Sides housing a new 16 Channel Soundcraft Signature Series Console, 2 Shure BLXR Wireless Microphones Systems with Handhelds & Headset Mics, DBX GoRack Processor, Crown XLI Amplifier and also Rack Storage Drawers; and

N

A single JBL EON612 Foldback Speaker and also Hosa Little Bro Portable Multicore / Stage Drop Box, to compliment live performance in the space.

The Council are super-pleased with the outcome and are now excited to explore LED Stage Lighting for the space and some Acoustic Treatments to improve audio outcomes. A great result for this rural, remote community.
