MORETON BAY COLLEGE
Moreton Bay College is certainly a prestigious P-12 Educational Facility for girls, set on 19 hectares of landscaped grounds. The college is also just 15 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD, in the lovely Bayside Region.
Its “Music Centre” houses a custom-built Tiered 500 Seat Concert Hall, and similarly a large open stage. There are also numerous sound proof rehearsal rooms and classrooms, accommodating the outstanding musical performance and also extra-curricular music programs.
EVOLUTION OF AUDIO VISUAL
Theatrical infra-structure in this premier venue has certainly evolved over a number of years. PLS has worked closely with Venue Manager Harry Pregnall to develop and further this work. Infrastructure commenced with pro audio solutions, acoustic treatments, stage lighting systems, and also stage drapes. Furthermore, we have added a large format audio-visual presentation system with a massive 6m x 4m fixed screen.
The front of house audio system boasts a JBL VRX900 Series central line array of three VRX932 boxes and a single VRX918 Sub; complimented by JBL AM4215/64 side-fill speakers left and right, all powered by Crown XT14000 Amplifiers, to provide high quality signal coverage to the tiered seating area. A Soundcraft LX7ii Console controls the system, and a DBX Driverack 260 processor manages it.
Early stages of the installation included Theatrical Grade Curtains to the walls of the large, open-style performance stage, to dampen and control acoustic bounce. The upper rear wall features new centre opening curtains. There was an intention to install a large projection surface at a future date.
This vision was recently realised, when a 300” Screen Technics Fixed Screen was installed on the rear stage wall, onto which strong, vibrant images are thrown by a Panasonic PT-DW830-EW 8500 Lumen DLP Venue Projector. The system is complimented by a Kramer VP728 Switcher and Aurora Digital Xtreme HDBaseT components.
Installation of stage lighting infrastructure has gotten underway over the past couple of years, commencing with infrastructure including Jands Patch Panel and Wallmount Dimmers, FOH PLS Powered Lighting Bars and Global Truss systems, controlled via an ETC Smartfade 24/96 console. A combination of Spotlight Combi 1200w Fresnels & PCs were introduced for soft, front lighting to the stage. Furthermore, the addition of ProShop LED par Quad 12s has greatly enhanced colour wash options and coverage.
Forward planning for this venue certainly continues to evolve. Likewise, we are proud to assist Moreton Bay College with the quality theatrical solutions now being enjoyed.
